丹绒武雅居民协会重新发动签名运动，反对“碍眼”发展

亲爱的丹绒武雅居民，
看起来在槟城所发生的事令人感到不安，据我们了解，将有另外栋的“碍眼手指”将会加入现有Cove的四栋高楼。这将使海岸成为高楼墙，进一步限制公众进入海滩自由，也剥夺很多人的海景视线。
有鉴于此，丹绒武雅居民协会将重新推展签名运动，要求将介于槟城游泳俱乐部及丹绒俱乐部之间一片丑陋的填土地带改为一个公共公园；它相信是唯一一片可留给丹绒武雅居民的海边，其他地段已被私有化或是建起高楼。
请下载请愿信，告知你的家人、朋友及邻居要求签名。将信投寄于靠近印度神庙，门牌11号，Jalan Oldham，我们的目标是2千份签名，你也可以在Esso油站打油时在该处签名，你可以看到签名的布条。
另一项困扰人民的消息是跑马场的槟城环球城中城计划：40栋高楼建在一个小范围内。一些非政府组织已针对计划展开反对行动。在10月7日于槟州大会堂举行的论坛取得鼓舞反应，出席者决定展开“反对PGCC”运动。丹绒武雅居协已加入其他非政府组织的反对行例。
丹绒武雅海边公园请愿信
过去几年，丹绒武雅的环境因为割山及高楼建筑遮挡海景以及污染海边，制造了严重的环境问题。根据法律，所有海边是属于公共的，可是它却面对私有化的威胁，一些地方很难进入，或是受到限制。
丹绒武雅的居民面对的问题如下：
一、缺乏公共休闲空间；
二、以个案方式来批准高密度公寓发展计划，没有对公共空间的需要进行规划；三、高楼发展计划开始占据海岸线；
四、一些发展宣称公寓拥有私人海滩，造成公众在进入这些公共海域时进一步受限制；
五、对海岸填土条例的侵犯。
有鉴于丹绒武雅俱乐部岸外的填土已抵触条例及成为碍眼物，有关当局已向发展商发出停工令，而这个碍眼物则已超过一年弃之不动。我们居民要求将这片填土地复原及成为一个公共海岸公园。

Dear members of TBRA,
Things are moving in Penang. Not in a good way. We have heard that it is likely that two other "sore fingers" may join the four existing ones of the Cove. It would be a wall of highrises right on the coast further limiting access to the beach and taking away the view of many.
The TBRA committee has therefore decided to re-launch the signature campaign to restore and transform that ugly reclamation between the Penang Swimming Club and the Tanjong Club into a Public Park. It maybe the only piece of coast left for the people of Tanjong Bunga to enjoy. Everything else is privatised and being built up.
Please see the attached petition form. You can download it and sign, ask your family, friends and neighbors to sign also. Drop it off at 11 Jalan Oldham, near the Indian temple. We are aiming for 2000 signatures. You can also take two more minutes when you take petrol to sign it at the Esso station - seen the new TBRA banner there?
The second disturbing news is that of plans to build a Penang Global City Centre (PGCC) at the place of the current Turf club: 40 humongous highrises in a relatively small area. Several NGOs have launched a protest against the whole idea: there was a well attended forum at the Dewan Sri Pinang on 7 Oct. and the people there decided on a massive "NO to PGCC". There now are postcards to sign and bumperstickers for your car. TBRA has joined the other NGOs in solidarity. Ask us if you want postcards or more information. Just send an email.

PETITION for a Tanjong Bunga Coastal Park
illegal reclamation, called the “sore thumb”, by the Tanjong Bunga Residents’ Association (TBRA)
‘Development’ in Tanjung Bunga has over the past few years created severe environmental problems with hill-cutting and high-rise construction blocking sea views and polluting the beaches.
By law all beaches are public, but they are in danger of being ‘privatised’… access is already made difficult or even restricted in several places.
The residents of Tanjung Bunga are faced with:
lack of public recreational space;
high-density apartment buildings approved on an ad hoc and individual basis without any planning for public space;
high-rise ‘developments’ starting to dominate the entire coastline;
some developers claiming to have a ‘private’ beach for their condo, thus encouraging further restriction to public access to the sea side;
violations of regulations and procedures for coastal land reclamation.
In view of the fact that the reclamation off the Tanjung Club has violated regulations and created an eyesore, that the authorities have issued a stop-work order to the “developer”, and that this “sore thumb” has been sitting idle now for more than a year…
we, the undersigned residents of Penang, support the TBRA proposal that the reclaimed area be restored and rehabilitated as a public coastal park.
Transform this “SORE THUMB” into a PUBLIC PARK!
